Chelsea legend Didier Drogba reveals he could have left the Blues for Juventus or Inter and wishes the best of luck to his friend Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgium international has returned to Inter on loan ten months after his €113m permanent transfer to Chelsea. He had been pushing for his return to the Stadio Meazza after failing to settle under Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge.

“Serie A isn’t short of great strikers and I wish the best of luck to my friend Lukaku,” Drogba said during the Global Youth Tourism Summit in Sorrento.

The former Ivory Coast striker also revealed that he could have ended his career in Serie A, specifically at Juventus.

“In the end, nothing happened, but I could have ended my career at Juventus. Years before, I had been in talks with Inter. I was happy at my club [Chelsea], so I decided to stay, but I have some regrets. I would have loved to play in Serie A. I think I could have scored some goals there.”

Drogba spent nine years at Chelsea, scoring 164 goals in 381 appearances with the Blues. He has become one of the most iconic strikers in the club’s history, along with former Italy stars Gianluca Vialli and Gianfranco Zola.

Drogba won four Premier League titles at Stamford Bridge and the Champions League in 2011-12, the first one in the club’s history with Roberto Di Matteo in charge.
