Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma said he wants to win ‘as many trophies as possible’ during his career and revealed he dreams of one day being awarded the Ballon d’Or.

The shot stopper turned 22 years old in February but has already been capped 30 times by the Nazionale and has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in European football.

The youngster has played 251 competitive games with the Rossoneri, but is moving on for pastures new this summer and revealed he is hoping to continue for another 18 years.

“I hope to play for as long as possible, up to 40 years,” Donnarumma told Red Bull’s official website. “It’s my passion.

“My goal is to win as many trophies as possible, especially with the Italian national team. The incredible dream is to win the Ballon d’Or, I’ll give it my all, then we’ll see what happens.”

Donnarumma leaves Milan when his contract expires this week and will join Paris Saint-Germain after the Euros.

Donnarumma, who helped Milan finish second in Serie A 2020-21 and thus qualify for the Champions League, believes he has earned more respect after establishing himself as a starter at San Siro.

“You can learn something new every day. I have always thought that work always pays off, working with humility, sacrifice and passion makes everything easier,” he continued.

“I have been playing in Serie A for six years now, there’s more respect. I make myself heard and my teammates also listen to me.

“The goalkeeper must command the defence, we must transmit security and trust, always.”
