Roberto Martinez said Belgium are still hoping to have Eden Hazard and Kevin de Bruyne available. ‘There’s no major damage, they could still play, it’s not over’.
De Bruyne and Hazard were both substituted in the 1-0 win over Portugal on Sunday and Belgium CT Martinez hopes to recover to two key players for the match against Italy on Friday.
“There’s no major structural damage, this means their tournament is still ongoing, they could still play, it’s not over yet,” Martinez said at a press conference. “But we have to wait another 24 hours.
The two are struggling with different injuries, as De Bruyne was replaced early in the second half with a sprained ankle.
Hazard asked to be substituted in the final minutes of the game with a problem in the left thigh and reports have claimed it’s more likely to have De Bruyne available against the Azzurri than the Real Madrid forward.
