The 17-year-old received his second senior Italy cap, replacing Buffon at half-time in the 0-0 draw with Germany at San Siro.
“It’s always a strong feeling to wear this shirt, so I thank the Coach for this opportunity. It’s always an honour,” Donnarumma told Rai Sport.

He was asked if he was Buffon’s heir not only in the Azzurri jersey, but also at club level after reports of Juventus interest.
“I have a great rapport with Gigi, he always gives me advice and treats me like his brother. I try to watch every move he makes in training and I thank him a great deal.
“Everyone says I’m Gigi’s heir. Right now I am focused only on Milan and doing well there, as it’s the team I have supported since I was a child. I am already at a top club.”
