Multiple sources are confident the deals are done for Giovanni Simeone to join Napoli on loan with option to buy from Verona, while Andrea Petagna goes to Monza, both for circa €15m.

Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia and more all have the same details of the double transfer swoop.

Simeone will move to Napoli on loan for €3m with an option to buy for a further €12m.

That could become an obligation under certain circumstances, but nowhere near as guaranteed as originally planned.

This is why Napoli are paying more for the one-season loan with a lower option.

More or less the same figures are being bandied about for Petagna’s switch to newly-promoted Monza, in this case it will be an obligation to buy if they secure Serie A safety at the end of the season.

That will cost circa €2.5m now and another €10m to make it permanent, plus bonuses.

It is curious to see both strikers given more or less the same transfer value, especially considering Simeone scored 17 goals and provided six assists in 35 Serie A games last season for Hellas Verona.

The Argentina international had attracted interest from abroad including Arsenal, but wanted to continue his career in Serie A and the Champions League.

Petagna just turned 27 and was quite low down the pecking order at Napoli, scoring four goals with five assists in 32 competitive matches last term.

  1. If Napoli can get Navas through the Fabian deal and then also Ndombele to replace Fabian, they’d definitely be favourites for the CL places. As much as the media has been hyping up Roma my money would still be on Napoli for top4. Lazio and Fiorentina still someway off the top. Atalanta have lost so many crucial players, let’s see how they hold up in the short-mid term.
