Gleison Bremer discussed the changes following his move to Juventus and he appealed to the Torino fans to understand the motivation behind his transfer to their intercity rivals.

The 25-year-old Brazilian centre back exploded onto the scene last season with the Granata, proving himself to be one of the best defenders in Serie A. His strong work soon saw him attract the attention of Inter, but despite months of interest they failed to get a deal across the line, allowing Juventus to swoop in for Bremer’s signature.

Speaking at his unveiling, Bremer first thanked Torino for the time he spent at the club.

“I want to thank the whole club of Torino, I spent four good years there. I thank all my teammates.”

He commented on his initial impressions of Massimiliano Allegri and Juventus.

“Nice, Juventus are a club that always wants to win. I talked a little bit with the coach, he is also an ambitious person. I got on well with him right away.”

The Brazilian centre back spoke about his adaption from a back-three to a four-man defence.

“It’s a little different, a three-man to a four-man defence, but when a player is strong he has to adapt to everything. I also talked a little with Chiellini about this, I have to adapt as soon as possible.”

He was vague when asked if he was close to joining any other clubs.

“I’ve only talked to my agent. Juventus are the team that has won the most in recent years, they’ve been good.”

Bremer discussed how he’s handled switching from Torino to Juventus, a move the fans were never going to appreciate.

“The Torino fans took it badly. But I ask the Toro fans if they wouldn’t hope for something better for their children.

“I did it because of that. We know how the fans are. This is my job, I never said I wouldn’t go to Juventus.”

The 25-year-old touched on some conversations he’s had with Giorgio Chiellini.

“Even two years ago I talked to him when I was close to leaving Toro but not for Juventus. He’s an idol for me.

“I spoke to him, he told me to take it easy. I asked him if I could take the number three jersey and he said there was no problem.”

The former Torino defender touched on his ambitions with the Brazilian national team.

“Juventus have Brazilian players. and they will help me get to the national team.

“I talked with Danilo, Alex Sandro, but it won’t be easy to get into the national team because there are strong players. I already raised my level last year.”

He spoke about how he’s managing the change in pressure between the two clubs.

“I wanted to change teams already for two years to raise the level. I’m the most critical person, when I do bad I go home and I watch videos to see where I can improve.”

Bremer briefly commented on his relationship with Leonardo Bonucci.

“We are talking to always improve and be ready.”

He explained who’s helped him raise his level in recent years.

“I’ve had good coaches. Mazzarri first, then Juric with whom I made the leap in quality. The most important thing was the mentality.”

Finally, Bremer spoke about how it’ll feel to play in the Champions League for the first time.

“Yes it’s the dream of every player to play in the Champions League. Being at Juventus doesn’t just mean you play in it but you also have expectations to be able to win.”

  1. overrated, Serie A clubs never ever learn, Use That Gatti guy, he looked very good against england, what a joke serie a is

  2. Bremer is just another mercenary that went after money.

Sorry for Granata fans, their (ex)captain has shady character.

  3. Susy is a Milan fan…

Anyway, I like that Bremer was/is in touch with Chiellini. I hope Giorgio will come back to the club once he retires.

  4. Dont bother about the Toro fans, They just have anger with the big brother Juventus. Always had, always will. You cant win with Torino, its like Conte said – you cant eat in 100 euro resturant with 10 euros.

    Welcome to Juventus brother!

    FORZA JUVE SEMPRE!!!

  5. I feel sorry for him. Having to cover two roles and yet the fans of Piemonte Calcio have not realised that Chiellini has not been replaced. Absolute clown show for a club and while they might barely challenge for the title at home, champions league failure is 100% certain. This time they might not even make it out of the group stages.

  6. Oh Paratici don’t be bitter. It’s football. Players will always chase promotion. If they’re good enough they get better clubs. That’s how football works. You wouldn’t work at Lidl if Audi wanted to hire you. Why should they settle for mediocrity and an empty trophy cabinet.
