And speaking ahead of his side’s match with Fiorentina, the former Italy boss expressed his hope that new signing Riccardo Orsolini, as well as Rossoblu fringe players, would thrive under the added pressure to produce the goods.

“When there are important players who you will miss, everyone else is obliged to do more,” Donadoni told a Press conference.

“We know Simone’s worth. Now, Orsolini is here and he wants to show what he can do.

“Then, there are people who have had less opportunities who need to do more. Hopefully we can overcome Verdi’s absence.”

Donadoni is convinced Fiorentina will provide a stern test to his side despite their embarrassing home defeat to Verona last week.

“We face a team who, due to a series of incidents, lost at home to Verona.

“It was one of those matches where everything goes wrong. That result definitely isn’t a reflection of Fiorentina.”
