The Rossoneri bench seems increasingly unstable after yesterday's 2-1 defeat to Fiorentina, with Empoli Coach Maurizio Sarri also touted as a possible successor.

Donadoni, whose tenure at Parma looks unlikely to continue as the club spirals towards bankruptcy, says he would be happy to join the club that he once played for.

“If Milan calls me, I don't think it's going to be hard to answer,” he said, in an interview with Gazzetta TV.

“The last few games could have changed things for Milan, but unfortunately they did not go well.”

But the former Azzurri head was defensive of Inzaghi, and he denied having advised him to start his coaching career with Sassuolo rather than Milan.

“I completely understand Inzaghi. If [President Silvio] Berlusconi and [joint-CEO Adriano] Galliani call you, it's really hard to give up on Milan and go to Sassuolo instead.”

Donadoni also had some insight on the training system in Italy.

“We must rethink how we do football, as it's not helping the younger players.

“Abroad they let the lads have fun, there is another atmosphere.”
