Sassuolo boss Alessio Dionisi feels Inter deserved to win against Roma last week and advises Andrea Pinamonti not to be bothered about facing his former club.

The Neroverdi host Inter at the Mapei Stadium on Saturday. Both sides have 12 points, but Sassuolo won the last two, while Inter lost to Udinese and Roma.

However, the Nerazzurri reacted in the Champions League on Tuesday, beating Barcelona at San Siro.

“Inter deserved to win against Roma; against Barcelona, they put in a performance up to their standards. They had two different approaches in two different games. I believe they did well in both,” Dionisi said at a press conference.

“Then, of course, there is the tendency to analyse games depending on results. Inter will come here to win tomorrow, but we’ll do the same.”

The Neroverdi have kept five clean sheets in eight games, the highest in Serie A with Atalanta.

“I’ve seen a different attitude,” explained Dionisi.

“I want to gain results and keep the balance. The aim is to play well, but sometimes you must have the right attitude and try to stop the opponents. On paper, Inter are better than us, so we must do well when we don’t have the ball.”

Pinamonti will face his ex-club tomorrow. The Italian striker is a product of the Nerazzurri academy but was sold to Sassuolo permanently in the summer after a convincing loan spell at Empoli.

The 23-year-old scored his first goal in six games on Sunday against Salernitana.

“I think he was more bothered about the previous match,” admitted Dionisi.

“There’s a lot of noise when a striker doesn’t score. There will be many rumours regarding our players this season and Andrea should not be bothered. If there are talks about a player it’s because there are expectations on him.”
