“I am happy and pleasantly surprised to be facing Zeman in the opening game,” said Coach Di Francesco.
A former midfielder with Zeman at Roma, Di Francesco follows the same 4-3-3 philosophy as his mentor.
“The first eight rounds certainly present a complicated path for Sassuolo, but we must look at it with optimism and positivity.
“Never say never… After all, last season on paper the start seemed easy and it went very badly.”
