“Aside from issues outside of football, this is an important game for us and Parma showed against Roma and Atalanta that they can still challenge for points,” said Di Francesco.

“I have the utmost solidarity with the Coach, players and employees of the club. None of us would want to be in their position right now.

“However, I focus on the field and sometimes don’t even want to know who we are playing against. We have to face Parma as if they were Juventus in Turin.

“Paradoxically, as they have nothing to lose, Parma may well be able to play free of pressure.”

That cannot be said of Sassuolo, who have lost their last four games in a row.

“We must improve our attacking approach and return to being as dangerous as we were in the past, often more so in games that were tough on paper.”

Luca Antei, Paolo Cannavaro, Emanuele Terranova and Gianluca Pegolo are still sidelined, to Federico Peluso will probably have to play at centre-back again.

Sassuolo squad for Parma: Pomini, Polito, Consigli; Longhi, Vrsaljko, Acerbi, Bianco, Fontanesi, Gazzola, Peluso, Natali; Magnanelli, Chibsah, Missiroli, Biondini, Taider, Brighi; Zaza, Donis, Sansone, Berardi, Lazarevic, Floro Flores, Floccari
