Coach Eusebio Di Francesco confirms “clubs have approached me” but wants to continue with Sassuolo’s project based on youngsters.

The Neroverdi have qualified for the Europa League for the first time in their history, leading to speculation that bigger clubs could tempt the tactician away.

“It takes failures to grow too, as happened to me in the first season in Serie A,” Di Francesco explained to Radio 24, having been fired and brought back by Sassuolo.

“This year the club has asked me to give my answers as soon as possible. There have been clubs which have approached me.

“Sassuolo’s future? We can’t think of spending €25m on one player. We want young players with potential and motivation.

“Several of our players came from Serie C2, they made themselves available and deserved to play in Serie A.”

Di Francesco was also asked about Domenico Berardi, who is expected to follow Simone Zaza to Juventus.

“I’m glad to see Simone scoring so well at Juventus. As for Berardi, he’s worthy of a great team but I don’t want to condition things.”
