Sassuolo Coach Eusebio Di Francesco believes Domenico Berardi “has been ready for a great team for two years”.

The forward was previously co-owned by Juventus, and it was expected he’d join them outright in the summer of 2015.

However, the co-ownership was resolved in favour of the Neroverdi, and despite a gentleman’s agreement the forward didn’t move to Turin this summer either.

“But it’s a matter of opinion. If I had coached a great team two years ago, I would have taken him. It's too easy to see when a player is worth 10 million, it is obvious to everyone; yet I have been criticised for having faith in him even when he has not been in the best of him.

“But there was talent in him and I am convinced that negative experiences are crucial to the growth of players.”
