Domenico Di Carlo concedes Chievo “got everything wrong” in their 4-0 demolition at the hands of Milan.

“Evidently I didn’t get my point across to the players,” he said of the disastrous first half performance.

“We didn’t manage to close down the middle, where our opponents were always first to the ball and this gave space to champions like the Rossoneri.

“We were too stretched. Compliments to Milan, who are one of the form teams in Serie A. It’s better to lose one game 4-0 rather than four by 1-0.”

Di Carlo admits it was difficult to give a half-time team talk when Chievo were already 4-0 down.

“The lads knew they got everything wrong that it was possible to get wrong. At half-time I just asked them to stay calm and play like Chievo, so we did seem like more of a team unit in the second half.

“I know full well my Chievo is a different side to the one we saw tonight.”
