The head of the Italian Players’ Union believes Luigi Di Biagio will return to the Italy Under-21s if he isn't given the top job.

Di Biagio is caretaker CT of the national team, but with Roberto Mancini expected to be appointed as Azzurri boss he’ll go back to the Azzurrini.

“I think any Coach sitting on the bench of the national team deserves support, and the conviction that he can and should do well,” Tommasi said in a Press conference at the AIC’s general assembly.

“I think any Coach sitting on the bench of the national team deserves support, and the conviction that he can and should do well,” Tommasi said in a Press conference at the AIC’s general assembly.

“As far as I know, if Di Biagio won’t be CT of the senior team he’ll still lead the Under-21s and will seek qualification for the next Olympics.”

Tommasi also gave his thoughts on the Scudetto race, with Juventus having practically wrapped up a seventh title in a row.

“Juventus’ strength lies in their awareness of their own means. They were the team to beat and so it proved to be.

“There seemed to be an opening for Napoli, but the Bianconeri made the difference, above all from a mental point of view.

Roma also had an important season, and the most important thing was they gained awareness of their own strength.

“This Roma know they can always play with anyone.”
