Italy Under-21 CT Luigi Di Biagio admits he’s “expecting difficulties” in tomorrow’s match with Lithuania.

The Azzurrini are joint-top of Group 2 in European Championship qualifying alongside Serbia, and can take a step toward qualification with a win at Stadio Teofilo Patini in Castel Di Sangro.

“Tomorrow I’m expecting difficulties in a match which is simple on paper,” Di Biagio said in his pre-match Press conference.

“We have to go out on the field with the same desire to play which we demonstrated against Serbia. We played a great game in Novi Sad, I regret the [1-1] result a little, even though we took an important step.

“The match with Lithuania can show us if we are a mature team, because finding motivation against Serbia is a lot easier than a game like this.

“If we can tackle it with the same competitive edge, with the same mentality and ruthlessness which has always distinguished us we shouldn’t have problems.

“If we have two or three players who think the game will be easy, we’ll have a lot of problems. It happened last year with Cyprus, when we thought it would be easy and went down to the first shot on goal.

“We’ll have to be patient, because although they have two very fast wingers, tomorrow they might decide to sit in.”
