Milan have officially contacted Roma for Mattia Destro – a target for Tottenham and Chelsea.

The Rossoneri are seeking a replacement for Mario Balotelli, who touched down in Liverpool today to undergo a medical and complete his £16m move.

According to Calciomercato.it and Sky Sport Italia, today CEO Adriano Galliani called Roma director Walter Sabatini to formally request Destro.

Milan Channel – the official TV station of the club – confirmed tonight that Milan had made formal contact, but not that there was already an offer on the table.

His price-tag is known to be €25m and the 23-year-old scored 13 Serie A goals in just 20 appearances last season.

Destro has also been heavily linked with both Tottenham and Chelsea, the reason for repeated Sabatini trips to London over the last week.

The proposal from Milan is for a one-year loan at €5m and an option to buy at the end of the season for a further €16m.

Milan’s first target is Jackson Martinez, but today Porto declared the Colombian international would not be sold this summer.
