AS Monaco are very active on the market after selling Geoffrey Kondogbia to Inter and seem focused on Serie A talent.

Curiously, the team is currently in Italy for pre-season training and on the verge of completing a swoop for Milan forward El Shaarawy.

Destro returned from a six-month loan at Milan when the Rossoneri decided against activating their €18m option to buy.

The Italian is not part of Coach Rudi Garcia’s plans and has been linked with numerous clubs all over Europe, including Fiorentina, Schalke 04, Wolfsburg and West Ham United.

The 24-year-old has so far been reticent to leave Italy, but the reception he received from Roma fans during their first pre-season friendly may well have changed his mind.

Destro scored their only goal in a 2-1 defeat to Hungarian side Gyrmot Gyor, but was still loudly heckled every time he touched the ball.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the next few days will be decisive for Destro’s future and a meeting with Monaco is lined up.
