Davide Massa has been assigned as the referee for the Derby della Madonnina between Inter and Milan, though he has history with these teams.

The game kicks off on Sunday at 19.45 GMT at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Massa will be assisted by fourth official Sozza and VAR Paolo Silvio Mazzoleni.

His history with the Nerazzurri sees 15 wins, four draws and five defeats, including a red card for Milan Skriniar during the 3-3 thriller with Sassuolo in June 2020.

He was in the VAR booth last season during a controversial game between Torino and Inter, when Andrea Belotti was caught by Andrea Ranocchia in the penalty area, but the referee was not called back for an on-field review.

At the time, refereeing designator Gianluca Rocchi called it “a serious error” in which “the images were not checked carefully.”

Massa’s tally with Milan is of six victories, seven stalemates and four losses, including the 2-2 draw with Roma last month that effectively sparked their current crisis.

The Rossoneri fans above all remember him for disallowing Franck Kessie’s goal against Napoli in December 2021 for Olivier Giroud’s offside position, which he considered to be interfering with play.
