Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti comforted Gennaro Gattuso after the Italian was sacked by Valencia: ‘It happens to everyone, the only exception is Pep Guardiola, but one day…’

Gattuso and Valencia parted ways last week. Officially, the former Italian midfielder left the club by mutual agreement.

Ancelotti, who coached Gattuso at Milan for many years, comforted his ex-player at a press conference on Wednesday.

“Being sacked is part of the job, we have to take it into account,” said the Real Madrid boss.

“I think everyone has faced it. Perhaps, the only exception is Pep Guardiola, but if he continues coaching, it will happen to him one day. It’s part of the job, I’ve been sacked many times, but I am still here. There are worse things.”

Gattuso and Ancelotti met in the Spanish Supercup at the beginning of January and on the eve of the game, they surprisingly revealed that they are no longer on good terms not having spoken to each other for more than one year.

Gattuso won the Champions League twice at Milan under Ancelotti and replaced him as Napoli‘s coach in 2019.
