Atalanta and Turkey international defender Merih Demiral has placed a signed Juventus jersey from his then teammate Cristiano Ronaldo up for auction to raise funds for areas devastated by yesterday’s earthquake.

The strongest quake in the region for centuries struck Turkey and Syria, with over 5,000 confirmed dead and many more still missing.

There are several Turkish players in Serie A and they are doing all they can to help get supplies to those in need.

Demiral announced via social media that he had spoken to Cristiano Ronaldo about the situation and was putting up for auction a Juventus shirt from his personal collection.

Ronaldo and Demiral became good friends when they played together at Juve and CR7 signed a special jersey for his teammate.

Both have since left the Bianconeri, with Ronaldo now at Al-Nassr FC and Demiral playing for Atalanta.

Sampdoria defender Koray Gunter had also spoken to Sky Sport Italia last night before the 2-2 Serie A draw with Monza about the situation.

“My heart is broken, there are so many people suffering, many still stuck under the rubble. I can only say that the people of Turkey need help and prayers from everyone.”
