“I waited a few hours to get my head together before expressing myself here, for you who again on this occasion have made me feel special,” wrote Alex.

“In all honesty it's not easy, because the feelings, the emotions and the meaning of what happened are so strong.
“I feel the same now as I did 18 years ago… but today the method of communication has changed. In 1993 I didn't even have a mobile phone, while now there's Facebook.
“You have been close to me with an incredible passion and all this pushes me on to set new and ever more ambitious objectives.”
Many pointed out the timing of the signature – May 5 – harked back to the Scudetto-winning game on this day in 2002.
“Now I have another reason to remember the date May 5 with pleasure, because signing this contract had great symbolic value for me, like the fact I put pen to paper in the new Juventus stadium that from next year will be our home. I'll be very happy to play there.
“After all, what happened this week is ‘only' a new starting point. Thanks to all my staff and those who work behind the scenes. Thanks to Juventus and President Andrea Agnelli, who gave me such a great day. I'm happy to have signed it with him, having signed my first contract with Giampiero Boniperti.
