The Juventus legend won the World Cup here with Italy in 2006, but his ex-teammates are facing Barcelona for the Champions League Final.

“It is a very emotional moment and clearly this stadium for the Italians will always represent something magical. I hope for the Juventini it will become even more special after tonight,” Del Piero told Sky Sport Italia.

“That evening was unique and I am fortunate to have experienced it as a winner.”

The Azzurri were triumphant, but how will Juventus do against Barcelona?

“Juve are in good shape in every sense and not being favourites will also take some pressure off their shoulders.

“Mind you many will also realise this is if not the only, then a rare chance to play in a Champions League Final.

“You can be generally a calmer person or more tense, but you do feel it. You feel it the days leading up to the Final and then looking at the crowd.

“It’s a whirlwind of emotions that are difficult to keep a lid on. The warm-up is a big moment, as you start to put your emotions down and the psychological aspect is extremely important in a Final.”

Gigi Buffon was one of the three Juve players who was there for the World Cup Final, but the only person who went from Berlin to Serie B and back.

“He is the captain, he was here with me in 2006 and in Serie B. He is the symbol of the rebirth that started that year and brought us back to Berlin.”
