“Definitely, for us the defence is a certainty from which we start,” Conte acknowledged in a Press conference at Coverciano.

“I’ve worked with these lads for many years, and I hope they can pass everything on. We all hope that they’ll give us a major boost.
“I also hope they can repeat their success for the national team.”
Conte was then asked about his state of mind, with the tournament now on the horizon.
“I’m very focused, worry can only be harmful. A Coach should never convey anxiety or bad feeling. I want to convey concentration, ferocity, belief…
“I want to work hard to prepare for something beautiful and important so we don’t have any regrets.
“If I were to ask something of my players, I’d ask them to dream. Luck definitely isn’t on our side at the moment, so we’re hoping it swings the other way at the tournament.”
Finally, the CT was asked whether Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne will make the final list of 23 players who will travel to France.
“For now we start by saying there are some choices to be made,” Conte responded.
“We’ve arrived at this list of 30 because of some injuries, as well as tactical and technical choices. I chose the best 30 I think we have available at the moment.
“I know it’s hard to find agreement from everyone, but I chose according to my beliefs and what I want to do at the Euros.
“Right now Insigne is part of that 30, and just like anyone else he can get into the 23. It’s the same for everyone.”
