Sassuolo boss Roberto De Zerbi was full of praise for Lecce after a 2-2 draw at the Stadio Via del Mare. "They deserve to be in Serie A."

Lecce twice took the lead before Domenico Berardi equalised late on, but De Zerbi felt the game could've gone either way.

"Lecce have performed a miracle. We have been in Serie A for many years, and the Giallorossi have a lot of injuries. They deserve to be in this league," said De Zerbi in a press conference.

"It was a good game, we created a lot and played well. We conceded two goals due to the quality of our opponents. I am happy with how the game went. Lecce are strong at home, as even Juventus struggled here."

De Zerbi was asked about his hug with Fabio Liverani at the end of the game and joked that he needed it.

"I was exhausted. I sweat more now than when I was a footballer. Having coached Benevento, I know what it means to instill courage in a small team. I respect Liverani a lot."
