Roma goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis insists the club are aiming for trophies this season, after two second-place finishes.

The Giallorossi finished as runner-up last year, but were 17 points adrift of champions Juventus, as well as suffering disappointing exits in the Champions League, Coppa Italia and Europa League.

“Our objective is always to perform well, bring sporting continuity to the club and improve where possible,” De Sanctis explained, speaking to Roma’s official website.

“Our objective is always to perform well, bring sporting continuity to the club and improve where possible,” De Sanctis explained, speaking to Roma’s official website.

“Given that we’ve finished second for the last two seasons, improving would mean winning something and that’s the objective we all set ourselves.”

The Lupi got their Alpine training camp underway in Pinhole today, and the ‘keeper thinks the retreat will be important for the season ahead.

“Our arrival here in Pinzolo has been excellent – both in terms of the facilities themselves and the welcome we received from the fans.

“We start to work in earnest today. We have five days here in the mountains and it’s been organised fantastically with the best facilities at our fingertips.

“We’ll make the most of it. Getting off to a good start and getting to know the new faces in the staff is definitely going to be important for the rest of the season.”
