Goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis has spoken of his disappointment that Roma will play behind closed doors and says something should be done.

The 36-year-old added that he believed fans played a vital role in making football the spectacle it is.

“Something needs to be done,” De Sanctis said while attending the launch of Maurizio Nicita and Massimo Arcidiacono’s new book, ‘Papaveri e papere.’

“I’m not in a position to criticise the footballing bodies who apply the rules, but something needs to be done so that we don’t play behind closed doors.

“The fans need to go and see the match. The only thing that interests me is that the stadium is always full and that the fans can come and add to the spectacle.”

The veteran also commented on his side’s win over Sampdoria.

“It was a vital win to maintain our advantage over Napoli,” he said.

“We are still hurt by our elimination from the Coppa Italia but in the league we are doing well and we can look forward.”
