Daniele De Rossi hugged Federico Chiesa on Sunday after Roma and Juventus drew 1-1 at the Stadio Olimpico and Giallorossi fans hope this will produce the same effect as José Mourinho’s hugs with Paulo Dybala and Dean Huijsen.

Reports in Italy claim Roma are interested in signing Juventus and Italy star Chiesa in the summer and a recent hug between the winger and the Giallorossi coach has fuelled speculations.

De Rossi and Chiesa reunited at the Olimpico on Sunday in a 1-1 draw between the Giallorossi and the Bianconeri and fans noticed their hug after the final whistle.

De Rossi’s hug with Chiesa reminiscent of Mourinho, Dybala and Huijsen

As reported by Il Romanista, Mourinho had done something similar in the past with Dybala and Huijsen who eventually joined the Giallorossi under the Special One.

To be fair, however, Mourinho had hugged Dybala in 2018 when he was in charge of Manchester United after a Champions League group stage game against Juventus. Four years later, the Portuguese and Dybala reunited at Roma.

This past December, Mourinho crossed paths with Huijsen and appeared to congratulate the promising Juventus defender on the touchline at the Allianz Stadium and a few weeks later, the Dutchman snubbed a loan transfer to Frosinone, joining Roma instead.

Tuttosport reported on Tuesday that Roma are in talks with Chiesa’s entourage, but according to Gazzetta, the Italian star is open to extending his stay in Turin until 2026.

  1. Dybala coming to Roma was a dream, Lukaku coming to Roma was also a dream and look how that panned out. So forgive me if I dream about this one too.
