Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi says his team will go on the offensive when they meet Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

Speaking in his Champions League pre-match Press conference, the midfielder told the assembled media the Giallorossi would not approach the group stage fixture ‘like a provincial team’.

“We want to make our fans proud, and a draw wouldn’t be a bad result,” De Rossi began to reporters.

“However, we’re not going to put everyone behind the ball and play like a provincial team in front of the whole world and our fans.

“We’ll go out to win, but a draw wouldn’t be points dropped because we’re facing a wonderful team.”

De Rossi believes Roma’s attitude is common to that of Champions League sides, a sharp contrast to Serie A.

“In the Champions League everyone wants to play football.

“They’re used to playing football in their own country, whereas in Italy teams can park the bus and be negative.

“It’s always a thrill to prepare for these big events, it reminds you that Roma is a team which has always played football and done well in the Champions League, sometimes better than we’ve done in the League.”
