Italian giants Inter are set to launch an ambitious – if not impossible – bid to sign Roma's Daniele De Rossi.

The Italian has had a problematic campaign in the capital and his contract situation has led to rumoured interest from other clubs.

De Rossi has just a year left on his current agreement in Rome and the club's takeover by American businessman Thomas Di Benedetto has delayed extension talks.

The Italian has had a problematic campaign in the capital and his contract situation has led to rumoured interest from other clubs.

De Rossi has just a year left on his current agreement in Rome and the club's takeover by American businessman Thomas Di Benedetto has delayed extension talks.

According to some whispers on Thursday, Inter are ready to offer cash and Thiago Motta to the Eternal City outfit in return for the Italian.

There is also a possibility that Inter may include Emiliano Viviano in the offer, the Bologna 'keeper who is co-owned by the Nerazzurri.

Should Roma be ready to sell De Rossi, which would be an unpopular move with their supporters, then Real Madrid and Manchester City would also be ready to make an offer.

De Rossi, a product of the club's youth system, has played in over 200 League games for the Giallorossi.

Born and bred in Rome, he is nicknamed 'Capitan Futuro' and is expected to follow in the footsteps of Roma idol Francesco Totti.

The Italian international, who was omitted from Cesare Prandelli's latest squad for disciplinary reasons, reportedly earns around €4m a campaign.
