Rudi Garcia could rest Daniele De Rossi from Roma’s XI that will take on Manchester City in the Champions League tonight.

The two teams clash at the Olimpico on Wednesday evening both in contention to follow Bayern Munich into the Last 16 of the competition.

For the contest, where a win or a goalless draw may suffice, the Giallorossi are expected by the Corriere della Sera and La Repubblica among others to run with Radja Nainggolan and Seydou Keita in midfield, ahead of Daniele De Rossi and the recovering Kevin Strootman.

However, the Gazzetta dello Sport and Il Messaggero suggest De Rossi, suspended at the weekend, could be in line for a start ahead of either Pjanic or Keita.

Otherwise, Pjanic is seen as most likely to take the third midfield spot, with Adem Ljajic keeping his place in attack alongside Francesco Totti and Gervinho.

Douglas Maicon is expected will return as a starter, whilst the Gazzetta dello Sport lead a number of publications in suggesting Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa will be picked ahead of Davide Astori in central defence.

Meanwhile, Manuel Pellegrini is dealing with a string of injuries and his tactical options are limited and will most notably be without Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure.

However, David Silva and Vincent Kompany have provided late boosts in both training with the first team yesterday.

Probable line-ups

Roma: De Sanctis; Maicon, Astori, Yanga-Mbiwa, Cholevas; Pjanic, Keita, Nainggolan; Gervinho, Totti, Ljajic

Manchester City: Hart; Zabaleta, Demichelis, Kompany, Clichy; Navas, Fernando, Lampard, Milner; Silva; Dzeko
