Daniele De Rossi is a doubt for Roma’s match with Cesena at the weekend as he struggles to shake off a muscle injury.

Sky Sport Italia are one of a number of outlets reporting that the midfielder, currently in a long-running contract dispute with the club, finished training earlier than his teammates on Wednesday.

It is believed to be the consequence of an on-going struggle the player is enduring in trying to shake off a groin strain in his right leg.

The extent of the injury, which is still causing De Rossi some pain, will be assessed over the next 24 – 48 hours, whilst he will also undergo an altered training schedule for the rest of the week.

The news puts his involvement in the Giallorossi’s Week 19 match against Cesena in serious doubt, but he is still thought likely to make the following Tuesday’s Coppa Italia quarter-final with Juventus.
