Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt says Giorgio Chiellini is advising him to ''play with his head'' and that he needs to curb his ‘impulsiveness’.

De Ligt recently found himself out of the Juve side, with speculation suggesting that he was dropped due to a period of bad form.

However he’s returned to the side in the wake of Merih Demiral’s season-ending injury against Roma.

“Obviously there are differences between the Eredivise and Serie A, especially as regards to the smaller sides,” De Ligt told Tuttomercatoweb following Juve’s 2-1 win against Parma.

“In Holland the top four are very good, but I think the teams are much better here than in Holland. Every game is a test for us.”

The Dutchman was full or praise for the Gialloblu.

“They played very well and they have a good side. It was difficult for us, but in the end we won.”

De Ligt says he needs to stamp out the impulsiveness in his game, and is learning a lot from Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci.

“He [Chiellini] is a very experienced defender and he knows how to play. I’m young, and I’m a little impulsive.

“I want to win every battle, but sometimes it’s better to play with the head and that’s what I’m learning from him.

“I’m also learning a lot from Bonucci, both of them have a lot of experience and I’m trying to improve.”
