Frank de Boer assures Inter are “close to what I want to see” and expects the coming games to be “positive for us”.

“Juventus have changed the way people play, and I want to do the same with Inter,” De Boer said in a Press conference at the Golden Foot awards.

“In my opinion it’s possible, Inter have a great history and quality players. We can do important things.

“This will be an important period for us, until December we’ll be playing every three or four days and we have to improve.

“I have great confidence that the upcoming games will be positive for us, but we have to work hard. It won’t be easy against Cagliari, but there are no easy games in Italy.

“At every great team there’s pressure, but we have to live in reality. It’s normal that in the first two weeks we had to get to know the identity of Inter.

“That step has been completed, and now we can go in the direction that such a great club expects. We’re doing what we have to do, but I know it’s difficult to get quick results.

“It’s just a matter of correcting small details, even at Roma we played pretty well, but we made mistakes.

“For me, it will take a big step forward to correct them: you can’t lose the ball to easily and you have to win the 50-50s. But we’re doing well in terms of what I want to see.

“After we beat Juventus, many thought we were capable of the title, then after the draw with Bologna and the defeat at Roma I heard something else.

“We’re taking it a step at a time, we’re getting close to what I want to see.

“There’s a lot of quality in this squad, when we play for each other we can win against anyone. We must always play as a team, the squad knows the philosophy I want.

“We dominated at Roma for 70 minutes, and a lot of teams can’t do that. In my opinion that’s a sign of change.

“I think about the team, not individuals. Playing as a team, the results will come.”

A spat between Inter captain Mauro Icardi and Napoli legend Diego Maradona is making headlines, after El Diego called Icardi “a traitor” and the striker responded that Maradona is “not an example for anyone”.

“Icardi did well to say just one thing about Maradona. I don’t want to add another, it’s not needed. For me, this is enough. He’s responded and that’s an end to it.

“Should Argentina call him? If he keeps playing like he’s playing for Inter, his arrival in the Argentinian national team will only be a matter of time.

“He doesn’t only score goals, he also works a lot for the team, he’s a true leader.”
