Frank de Boer warns Marcelo Brozovic “has to demonstrate his discipline” to return to the Inter team.

The Croatian midfielder was excluded for the weekend win over Juventus after reacting angrily to being substituted in the Europa League, and is expected to be out for tomorrow’s Empoli game too.

“He just has to prove that Inter are his team,” De Boer shrugged, speaking to journalists ahead of tomorrow’s match.

“When he returns to us isn’t a problem for me. He did something I couldn’t accept, so he’ll return to the squad when he can demonstrate his discipline.”

Another rumour surrounding tomorrow’s match is the possible inclusion of summer signing Gabriel Barbosa, known as Gabigol.

“He’s had two or three training sessions, yesterday he had his first session with the rest of the group. He’s fine.

“We’ll evaluate him today, it’s possible he could be one of those called-up.”

Mauro Icardi looked likely to leave this summer, but the striker remained and has started the season in blistering form.

“I’ve spoken to all the lads, obviously that includes Mauro,” De Boer explained.

“I’m very satisfied with what he’s doing, he’s our captain and he has to show every day that he deserves that role.

“He’s doing that on a daily basis, both in training and in matches. I’m happy and he’s doing great things, also very difficult things.

“I repeat: I’m pleased with him.”
