Juventus defender Danilo said the club have to start winning again.

The Brazilian has won league titles at Real Madrid and Manchester City as well as with Juve but in the last two seasons the Bianconeri limped to fourth-place finishes.

And Danilo has followed coach Massimiliano Allegri and goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny in urging the club to make improvements.

Asked what Juve’s objectives were for the season, he told the club’s official website: “To start winning again.

“And this is only achieved by work on the pitch, on the physical, athletic, technical as well as mental side, keeping our feet on the ground and going into every match with the same mentality.”

Danilo is preparing to face former side Real Madrid in Pasadena on Saturday in a pre-season friendly and, ahead of the clash, he added: “It will be a great game, really exciting for me as I spent two years in Madrid.

“We are working well in these days, experimenting new systems. For example, we are working on what should be, in a positive sense, our arrogance, always being proactive and wanting to control the match.”

Danilo played for Madrid from 2015 to 2017, winning LaLiga as well as the Champions League twice – including in his final season where they beat Juventus in the final.

He then moved to Manchester City where he won back-to-back Premier League titles before joining Juve as part of a deal which João Cancelo move in the other direction.

Danilo won Serie A in his first season in Italy to make it five consecutive titles in three different countries.
