Torino’s Danilo D'Ambrosio is not listening to rumours that he could be included in the next Italy squad.

The defender, who is currently being used as a wing-back in a 3-5-2, has made a fine start to the season, aided by goals against Milan and Bologna.

“The national side? Let’s not joke around,” the 25-year-old told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “My teammates are already having a laugh about the goals I have scored.

“Torino are my national side,” he added. “We are doing well so far this season and we are just focused on Verona.

“Let us not get any strange ideas in our heads. The only objective here is the get 40 points, then if Italy boss Cesare Prandelli calls…”

D'Ambrosio is also attracting transfer attention as his contract at Toro is set to expire at the end of the season.

The Granata are keen to extend that agreement rather than run the risk of losing him on a Bosman free.
