Dalbert discussed Inter’s chances in the title race this season and his future following his loan move to Cagliari.

The 28-year-old Brazilian full back joined the Sardinian side on a season-long loan deal from the Nerazzurri last summer, but it’s hard to imagine them activating the buy option on his deal to make his stay permanent. He is contracted to the Milanese club until 2023, so it’s likely that they’ll try to find a new buyer in the summer.

Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Dalbert first discussed his future and the season with Cagliari so far.

“Honestly, I’m only interested in Cagliari at the moment and I’m not even thinking about my future. Now let’s go and avoid relegation and then we’ll talk about it.

“I have to be honest, it’s a beautiful city and I like being with my family, but right now I’m only thinking about the present because I want to stay calm. The only thing that counts is avoiding relegation with Cagliari, then we’ll see.”

The 28-year-old Brazilian full back confirmed that he hopes Inter will win the Scudetto this season.

“I hope so because I still have many friends in the Nerazzurri. If they win I’m happy for them, but I wouldn’t feel the title is mine because I’m not there. I trained with them but then I chose Cagliari.”

Finally, Dalbert discussed the differences between Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti, whom he worked with at Inter, and Cagliari coach Walter Mazzarri.

“I’ve always got on well with him and he helped me a lot by getting me to Inter. He and Mazzarri have in common that they are two excellent coaches, but they are profoundly different. Mazzarri is closer to the players, he always talks to them, he has an approach almost as if he were a father.

“He wants to know how you are and how you’re doing off the pitch. Spalletti doesn’t talk so much, he limits himself to a few right things that concern the pitch.”

Dalbert has made 26 appearances for Inter since signing for the club in 2017, for a total of 1475 minutes. In that time, he’s scored one goal and provided one assist.
