Timothy Weah revealed his desire to play in Serie A one day and suggested that his destination could be Milan.

The 21-year-old American forward is currently preparing for Lille’s upcoming Champions League clash against Chelsea, and whilst he’s fully focused on his work with the French club, he is also keen to play in the Italian topflight one day.

Speaking to Sportweek, Weah first discussed his ambitions and his mentality.

“I’m ambitious by nature and I approach every season with the idea of doing something great. My mentality is only to win, to arrive first. And last year we had the right team to do something incredible.”

He spoke about which type of forward he’d like to become, pointing to Romelu Lukaku and Edison Cavani as reference points.

“My goal is to become one of the greatest strikers in the world, like Lukaku, Cavani. I want to score a lot, provide assists, exploiting my speed. I can play all over the front line, even if I have a preference for a forward role.”

The 21-year-old American forward revealed his childhood dreams of playing for Milan, his desire to play in Italy and if it’ll happen one day.

“When I was a child there was the idea that I would go and play for Milan. Things went differently afterwards, but maybe I will arrive at Milan anyway. The Italian league is an exciting one, with many teams that can fight for the Scudetto: Milan, Inter, Juve, Roma.

“Maybe it’s not as good as the Premier League, but Serie A was in its time, like when my father’s Milan was great. Yes, I’d like to play there.

“At Milan? Of course I’m focused on Lille, but it’s always been my ambition to one day play in a big league like Serie A and especially at a big club like Milan, which is part of my family history.”

Finally, Weah discussed his relationship with Milan stars Mike Maignan, Fikayo Tomori and Rafael Leao.

“I often talk about Milan with Mike Maignan. He tells me that he gets on very well with the fans and that the city is fantastic. But I also talk to Rafael Leao, Fikayo Tomori, all friends of mine.

“Milan is a good team. I also talk about Serie A with Weston McKennie, who is enjoying his time at Juve. I also talk to Moise Kean, another crazy kid, who I met on the pitch when we were 13 years old.”

Weah has made 18 Ligue 1 appearances so far this season, for a total of 912 minutes. In that time, he’s provided four assists.

  1. Oh the nostalgia! Too bad he isn’t as good as his dad though. Still, would be cool if he plays for Milan one day, preferably together with Daniele Maldini. What can I say? I’m a romantic that way.

I guess we need a direct flight from Lille to Milan on the standby for the foreseeable future.
