“I can’t say I wasn’t scared. This is a sneaky virus, which no-one knows about.

“The real relief came when I tested negative. Only then did I take that weight off my shoulders.

“I’ll dedicate my goals to all those who are fighting this difficult battle: the doctors, nurses and volunteers.

“They’re the real heroes of these times. I’ve started training again, certainly to the extent possible given the situation.”

The 22-year-old was then asked about plans to restart the Serie A season.

“Let’s think about our health first. We all can’t wait to get back on the pitch, but there must be the right conditions to do that.

“We’ll find an agreement on pay cuts that suits everyone.”
