Patrick Cutrone is edging ever closer to a Fiorentina move after he was left out of Wolverhampton Wanderers’s FA Cup tie with Manchester United.

Cutrone has been linked with an early exit from Wolves, having struggled for playing time with the Premier League side since his €20m transfer from Milan last summer.

The 22-year-old was left out of the squad to face United in the FA Cup third round on Saturday, and Nuno seemed to suggest a switch was on the cards afterwards.

The 22-year-old was left out of the squad to face United in the FA Cup third round on Saturday, and Nuno seemed to suggest a switch was on the cards afterwards.

“I’m not going to say many things about that. Yesterday I had a good conversation with Patrick. We decided for him not to be involved,” he told reporters following the 0-0 draw, as per The Athletic’s Tim Spiers.

Probed on whether Cutrone was set for a move to Fiorentina, Espirito Santo remained coy.

“Let’s wait and see. Everything is ok.”

According to Pietro Balzano Prota of Radio Rossonera this evening, the striker is “very close” to joining the Viola on loan with an option to buy, corroborating previous reports.
