Sampdoria goalkeeper Gianluca Curci is looking forward to challenging Milan's Christian Abbiati today, “the best goalkeeper out there.”

The Rossoneri are welcomed to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in the 17.00 UK time kick-off with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ronaldinho and Robinho.

“There are no faces that can make you change your approach to the game. In our eyes, it always has to be the same with that level of concentration, effort and determination,” said Curci.

“This is the only way you can keep your consistency throughout a season.”

The goalkeeper does admire one of his opponents in particular, though.

“Abbiati was not in the Italy squad when he deserved to be, especially under Marcello Lippi's tenure.

“At this moment I consider him to be the best Italian goalkeeper out there. I think Milan's strength is not just in their forwards, but above all in defence with Abbiati, Alessandro Nesta and Thiago Silva.”

Samp have had trouble scoring recently, but Curci believes it is purely a matter of tactics.

“We have done well against Juventus, Inter and Lazio. The problems we had were mainly against teams who sat back and waited for us to come forward. When we can be the ones playing the counter, then we give our best.”
