The Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Cuadrado and the club are now close to agreeing terms on a new contract, with part of the 26-year-old’s reputed wage demands being met and a compromise on the remainder in place.

According to the Milan-based newspaper, Cuadrado has deferred some of his originally requested earnings until such time as he is sold, when he will receive the difference between his prospective new salary and his intended sum.

Gianluca Di Marzio’s website reports that the agreement will run for five years and, including bonus payments, will see Cuadrado become one of the Viola’s highest paid stars almost to the level of Mario Gomez, who takes in €4.25m a year.

Speculation has been that Cuadrado’s new deal will also include a buyout clause at around the €35m mark.

The winger’s current deal earns him a reported wage of €1.05m-per-season.
