Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante said ‘everyone made mistakes’ against Hellas Verona. ‘We must not lose our enthusiasm’.

The Giallorossi coach Jose Mourinho said he ‘needs to figure out what happened’ in the 3-2 defeat to Verona on Sunday.

Mourinho: ‘I need to figure out what happened’

Cristante agrees with the coach and said the team will go through the game to fix the issues during training this week.

“We must not lose our enthusiasm,” Cristante said after the match, according to Il Messaggero. “When you concede three goals, everyone makes mistakes, we will watch them back this week.

“We made errors in all roles. Both with the ball and in some defensive choices, going into difficulty at the beginning of the second half. We didn’t hold on.

“All teams suffer from fatigue; it doesn’t have to be an excuse. The season is long, we have to bounce back.”

  1. The defeat was coming. Roma have been veru fortuante against the likes of Fiorentina, Sassuolo and even Trabzonspor. Despite having a very potent and entertaining attack, Roma seldom control possession and boss the midfield. Veretout and Cristante are good players, but neither are particularly composed on the ball or tactically strong enough to shield what is a fairly average defence. I think that the team would benefit if they were to switch to a 433 and have extra body in the engine room. Pellegrini has to remain as part of the front 3 as he has been outstanding.
