Zenit’s Domenico Criscito calls Roma Coach Luciano Spalletti ‘one of the greatest Coaches’ and says ‘I’d be happy if he called’.

The defender worked under the Giallorossi tactician in Russia and has been linked with a reunion in the capital this summer.

Criscito made it clear in an interview today that he’d like to work with Spalletti again, although he admitted ‘I don’t know what will happen’.

“Spalletti helped me a lot in my first few months at Zenit,” Criscito explained to Il Messaggero.

“He told me, for example, to behave as if I were at home, to talk and joke with the Russians even if they didn’t know English.

“Spalletti is one of the greatest Coaches, in particular for his ability to work on several fronts.

“Our relationship was always great. He’s a Coach who’s always smiling, cheerful, motivated and empathetic.

“Tactically, to enter his mechanisms it was enough to have acknowledged his ideas of the game.

“I’m not completely surprised by the impact he’s had in the capital. Since his presentation Press conference I knew he would do well.

“He’s returned happy and aware of being able to do a good job. There was already a chance of overtaking Napoli before the last round, now it’s even more concrete.

“For us foreigners it’s always becoming more difficult to play with continuity. There are 12 of us in the Zenit squad, but the new rule in Russia will impose six Russians on the pitch from next year, one more than currently.

“I’m happy but I’m having some problems with this limit. I don’t know what will happen. The summer is long and if some offers came in I would consider them.

“If Spalletti called obviously I would be happy, but everything will be evaluated better in the future.”
