Former striker Hernan Crespo considers Milan's Mattia Destro and Inter's Mauro Icardi two 'first-class' players, whilst discussing Coach Pippo Inzaghi.

Inzaghi’s Rossoneri are in troubled waters, sitting six points away from European qualification, and it seems like the winter transfer window did little to improve their situation.

“When you're given the opportunity to Coach Milan, you can't turn that down. The situation isn't the best now, but I'd have done the same in his shoes,” Crespo said, in an interview with Tuttosport.

“It isn't easy to discuss his work right now. I think the club was aware of the challenges he would face when they appointed him, so now it's up to them to find a way to change routes.”

Crespo, who played for both teams in the city of Milan, also discussed the striking options of the San Siro clubs, defending Mattia Destro in particular.

“I joined the team [Milan] when they were aware of their strength, right after they'd conquered the Scudetto, and integrating myself was easier.

“At a time when there is great turmoil on the bench, it's hard for a player like Destro to adapt and start doing well right away.

“But we're talking about a first-class footballer. Destro and [Inter's Mauro] Icardi are perfectly aligned with the needs of Italian football.

“I think both of them have matured very quickly. It used to take a lot more work to get into a top club in Italy. Now young players have to be shown patience. I think they're halfway in their process of maturation.”
