Wojciech Szczesny has less than 18 months left on his contract with Juventus and should he depart in the summer, his spot could be filled by current backup Mattia Perin.

The 32-year-old Polish goalkeeper performed well at the World Cup in Qatar and has looked strong for the Bianconeri this season, being reliable and consistent between the sticks in Turin.

With just over a year to go on his contract with Juventus, Szczesny could soon be on the way out, with rumours hinting at a possible move to the Premier League. A move to Tottenham seems unlikely though, despite the media reports.

Calciomercato.com highlighted how Juventus could decide to sell Szczesny in the summer transfer window, when his contract will have just a year left until it’s expiry.

The club are not able to offer him a new deal matching his €6.5m net per season salary and may decide to cash in a little on the former Arsenal and Roma goalkeeper before his deal expires in June 2024.

Should he leave, Juventus could promote Perin to his place. The 30-year-old Italian has done well when required this season, keeping five clean sheets in eight league appearances this season, and he’s even received the support of legendary shot stopper Dino Zoff.

Speaking recently, the 1982 World Cup winner stated that he “wouldn’t sign anyone. We already have a goalkeeper at home like Perin, in the prime of his career and always impeccable when called upon. If Szczesny were to leave, I would bet on him.”
