“We know that Serie A is difficult and quality is very important, but a little apprehension does set in when you’re fighting for safety,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We have to stay in the running and prepare for the next match with Udinese. In terms of character, I saw the performance I wanted, as Bologna were in good shape, are objectively a stronger team and have players who can make the difference. We were minutes away from taking home a point.

“It’s easy to see everything negative at certain stages of the season, but we must keep clear heads and shift the balance.

“I also thought the winning goal should’ve been disallowed, as I felt Stefano Denswil was interfering with play and offside when he blocked off Ales Mateju from reaching the cross.”
