Antonio Conte wiped away tears during an emotional tribute to Tottenham Hotspur fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone, who tragically died from leukaemia this week.

Ventrone was only 62 years old and passed away in his home in Italy, having been working in London as part of Conte’s staff this season.

There was a moment’s silence before kick-off as Tottenham took on Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League today.

Conte had worked with Ventrone as a player first, as part of Marcello Lippi’s Juventus from 1994 to 2004, then hired him as fitness trainer with Spurs from November 2021.
