Antonio Conte had a flying start with Tottenham this season, but after three back-to-back losses questions are starting to be asked about the Italian coach’s man-management.

Spurs’ 2-0 loss to Wolves at home yesterday was fairly disastrous, with Conte’s team looking disorganised and uncreative as they failed to get off the ground against Bruno Lage’s side.

The former Chelsea and Juventus coach called the team’s performance “good”, but it was clear that he was deeply frustrated with the situation. He made it obvious that he expected reinforcements to arrive in last month’s transfer window, saying that “we need to do something”.

It’s no secret that Conte is unhappy with the Tottenham squad’s general mentality, and he’s previously criticised their level, saying that “it’s not enough” and that “we have to wait and build”, but it’s hard to imagine these man-management tactics being particularly successful.

Jose Mourinho often criticised his Spurs players during his tenure, something he regularly does in an attempt to fire up his squad, and it didn’t really work, leaving many Lillywhites players frustrated and demotivated. His Tottenham side often looked unconfident on the pitch, something that Conte’s team are starting to show in recent weeks.

Conte risks making the same mistakes as Mourinho, criticising the squad publicly too much and placing too little faith in his players, and it’s up to the Italian coach to turn things around now following three back-to-back defeats.

  1. So was cannavaro when he was managing evergrande. I don’t remember seeing 50 items a week on the Chinese league.

    Basta FI

  2. Stop complaining you lot. It’s good to hear about Spurs and Conte. Please continue Football Italia, maybe have a segment called Football England? What do you all think?

  3. Why isn’t Football Italia posting articles about Ancelotti? He is coaching the most famous football club on the planet and has won more than Conte so why do we have to see daily news about Conte? Football Italia please focus on informing us about Italian football. Thank you.

  4. No one is forcing you to read anything. There are many stories on the website. How about you just read what you’re interested in and skip the rest? You may not be interested but others are…

  5. There was am article about ancelotti yesterday. Nobody cares about Chinese football. Even Italian newspapers run stories on Italian coaches abroad so get over it.

  6. @ Jon

Yep you’re spot on! If FI want to post about players and coaches who are abroad, then don’t be selective. Have a designated section on the site specifically for this purpose. Or better yet, don’t write about them at all seeing as they ply their trade elsewhere!

  7. Feels like a lazy article, I feel that I have read this article before, only comparing the problems Joes has at Roma. (Similar to spurs and conte), it’s almost non news.

Nevertheless, we have all been drawn in to the FI ‘click bait’ article. However, I would agree if we are reporting on Italian players or coach’s outside of Italy let’s hear more about CA at Real Madrid (by example).
